Striving towards best-in-class shipping

We're charting a new course in maritime operations. As a diversified shipowner, we leverage operational excellence with environmental stewardship, investing strategically in green technologies that drive industry innovation.

We are prepared to take bold decisions when the timing is right, and exercise patience when conditions dictate otherwise, allowing us to respond swiftly when needed.

EBE's focus on efficiency

Our goal is to be best-in-class in ship operations, particularly in ESG matters. From advanced hull coatings and accurate monitoring systems to efficient engine systems, we continuously implement solutions that reduce emissions and improve performance.

Additionally, we join same-minded shipowners and charterers in platforms such as the Sea Cargo Charter, Global Maritime Forum and the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network. While we operate physical assets, our true values lie in providing forward-thinking shipping services that benefit our clients and the planet.

-11.6%

Lower average fleet emissions compared to industry standard (Basis Rightship).

9.8%

Fuel savings after the last drydock, due to efficiency investments.

97.8%

Retention rate among vessels’ crew. We stimulate this through various initiatives, such as dedicated catering service, best-in-class internet connectivity, social Sunday events and more.

99.8%

On-Hire rating that shows we are committed to run our ships efficiently. No off-hire means less environmental risk and optimum running equipment.

EBE’s best-in-class efforts

EBE’s fleet of Japanese-built Ultramax bulk carriers features economical engines and fuel-saving devices like pre-swirl fins, PBCFs, and rudder bulbs. With an average age of 7 years, all vessels are fitted with 4 * 30 tons cranes and grabs and operate worldwide.

Investing across the lifetime of a ship

In line with the industry’s drive towards net zero, EBE improved fuel efficiency during the drydocks of La Luna and La Selva in 2024 with these investments:

- Full underwater hull blasting versus spot blasting
- Low friction and biocide-free graphene-based hull and propeller coating to reduce fuel consumption and environmental impact
- Propeller Boss Cap Fins (PBCF)
- Resident hull grooming robot to reduce marine growth

Sustainable fleet efforts

Further decarbonisation incentives in terms of fleet operations include:

- Realtime monitoring solutions for fuel and energy consumption
- Voyage optimisation through autopilot upgrades and the use of weather routing services
- Frequency drive solutions on consumers to directly reduce energy consumption
- LED lighting
- Influencing human behaviour
